One position is available on a competitive basis each year in the Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship.

Qualifications

To be eligible for our Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship, you must have completed an ACGME-accredited Neurology Residency training program in the United States and must meet the requirements for University of Iowa Health Care house staff specified in the Resident Eligibility, Selection and Transfer policy. We will sponsor both J-1 and H-1B visas.

How to apply

Applications are submitted using the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) portal. Please refer to their site for information on match cycles.

The application should including the following documents:

  • A personal statement explaining the candidate's interest in Neuromuscular Medicine Neurology and their future career goals, including their research interests.
  • A curriculum vitae
  • USMLE scores transcripts
  • Valid ECFMG certificate required if you graduated from a medical school outside the U.S. or Canada.
  • Three letters of recommendation, one from your residency program director. Each letter should include the writer's opinion of your professional, academic, and personal qualifications, as well as an opinion of your potential success in the field for which you are applying.

     

NOTE: Personal interviews with the program director, selected program faculty, and staff are by invitation only and are based on the applicant's academic performance, USMLE scores, letters of recommendation, and other accomplishments as detailed in the AANEM application. Interviews are typically conducted in March through May. If selected for an interview, applicants will be notified by email. Interviews will be conducted virtually.
