The University Department of Neurology is seeking a Research Assistant to support the Neurogenetics/Neuromuscular research team in projects investigating how genetic alterations cause disease of the nervous system. The Research Assistant will serve as primary coordinator for the Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP) clinic and the clinical research consortium, assisting physicians and nurse coordinators with all aspects of clinical research. Additionally, this position will serve as the primary assessor for all HSP clinical outcome measures as well as the backup assessor for Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) specific outcome measures.

The Department of Neurology at the University of Iowa is seeking a Clinical/Healthcare Research Associate (Research Nurse) to join the Neurology Office of Clinical Trials (NOCT) and an outstanding group of Healthcare Research Nurses. This position requires strong clinical skills and specialized licensing in order to screen patients for study eligibility and consent for clinical trials. The Clinical/Healthcare Research Associate will educate patients on scope of study, potential risks and benefits, possible alternatives, and study requirements, as well as relay information to the principal investigator, verify patient eligibility, administer study medication, and identify adverse reactions.
