The University of Iowa (UI) Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, Department of Neurology, is currently recruiting an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Vascular Neurology (Clinical or Tenure Track) in the Division of Cerebrovascular Diseases. The Department of Neurology at University of Iowa Health Care is made up of more than 40 full-time faculty members who provide national and international leadership across a range of neurology areas. UI Health Care has a long tradition of leading basic and clinical cerebrovascular research and pioneered the development of stroke trials and widely used stroke assessment tools, such as the NIH Stroke Scale and the TOAST stroke subtype classification. UI Health Care is currently a regional coordinating center for NIH StrokeNet. UI Health Care is also part of the NIH SPAN network. As such, we are one of six centers in the country conducting multicenter animal studies to advance the field of cerebroprotection.

Carver College of Medicine, Department of Neurology is currently recruiting a BC/BE Neurologist with fellowship training in Movement Disorders for a full-time faculty position at an academic rank determined by the level of experience and qualifications to join our growing Movement Disorders team at the Neurology Department in Iowa City, IA. The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics (UIHC) is designated as a Center of Excellence by the Parkinson’s Foundation and by the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. The UIHC is also a member of the Parkinson Study Group, NeuroNEXT, Huntington Study Group, and Dystonia Coalition. We have vibrant federally funded research programs in basic and clinical science on Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease, and an active Deep Brain Stimulation program with Neurosurgery.
Position Details:
- Join a large team of general and specialty Neurologists with advanced experts in Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease.
- Outpatient practice for patients with Parkinson’s disease, Essential Tremor, Dystonia, Torticollis, Gait disorders, Ataxia, Blepharospasm, Chorea, Tourette’s syndrome, and other movement disorders.
- Special clinics for General Movement Disorders, Botulinum Toxin Treatment, Deep Brain Stimulation, Multidisciplinary Clinics for Parkinson’s Disease and Huntington’s Disease, Ataxia, and Neuro-palliative Care.
- Shared coverage of general neurology duties (inpatient service, consult service, resident continuity of care clinic) with other departmental faculty several weeks a year.

The Department of Neurology at University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible sleep medicine physician, to be appointed as a Clinical (non-Tenure) Track faculty member at any rank. The candidate will join a progressive and growing sleep division which serves both adult and pediatric patients. The overall philosophy of this neurology department is the provision of comprehensive patient-centered care in our inpatient and outpatient settings and in a variety of unique subspecialty practice settings within our healthcare system.
Appointment will be on the non-tenure clinical track, open rank. The position is a 1.0 FTE and consists of 80% clinical, and 20% academic/administrative time. Clinical work for this position will include teaching and patient care within the Department of Neurology.
All members of the Neurology faculty group share weekday, weekend and holiday coverage of the inpatient and consult services. We will work closely with the candidate to optimize his/her time to work in any preferred area of interest.

NEUROMUSCULAR FACULTY - DEPARTMENT OF NEUROLOGY

The Department of Neurology at the University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a board-certified/eligible Neurologist with specialization in treating Neuromuscular disease, to be appointed as a Clinical, Research or Tenure Track faculty member at any rank. Successful candidates will also be in involved in a full range of educational and mentoring activities for students, residents, and fellows through educational programs of the division.
Clinical activities will include providing tertiary level services in a busy MDA clinic, CMT clinic, and an MDA/ALS multidisciplinary clinic. The division currently has four other Neuromuscular Neurologists on staff, two Neurogenetic Counselors, two dedicated RNs, and one Medical Assistant. The department has highly respected EMG and neuropathology services and is highly collaborative with the Pediatric Neuromuscular Division.

EPILEPTOLOGIST, NEUROLOGY FACULTY

The University of Iowa, Department of Neurology is recruiting a faculty member specializing in Epilepsy. The appointment will be on the tenure or clinical track at a rank based on qualifications. The position involves delivery of outpatient care in the Department of Neurology’s Epilepsy Clinic, attending on the inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, reading EEG and IOM studies in the EEG laboratory, and taking EEG call. The successful candidate will join a group of six adult epileptologists and two additional EEG/IOM readers. The University of Iowa Comprehensive Epilepsy Program is the only NAEC Level 4 epilepsy center in the state of Iowa.

Research Associate - Richerson and Narayanan Labs
The Department of Neurology at the University of Iowa is seeking a dedicated and organized Research Associate to manage the daily research operations of two Neurology Department laboratories under the guidance of active clinician-scientists and PIs, Dr. George Richerson and Dr. Nandakumar Narayanan. Core responsibilities involve purchasing equipment and supplies, providing onboarding and ongoing training for new and experienced personnel, maintaining lab protocols, performing basic and complex procedures, and managing mouse colonies.
