We welcome you to the Division of Cognitive Neurology at the University of Iowa Health Care! 

The UIHC is recognized for innovation, excellence, and leadership in the treatment of cognitive and memory disorders. 

Our physicians and surgeons are national leaders in their respective specialties and constantly strive for excellence by participating and presenting in national/international conferences, as well as conducting clinical and basic science research.

Our Neurology Residency educates the next generation of academic neurologists. Founded in 1919, the University of Iowa Department of Neurology is the third oldest in the United States, and its residency program was one of the first to be accredited. This tradition of excellence continues with a department full of energetic, forward-thinking, thought-provoking, bright clinicians and scientists, committed to training today’s neurologists.

What is Cognitive Neurology?

Cognitive neurology a specialized branch of neurology dedicated to diagnosing and treating disorders that impair cognitive functions, including memory, language, attention, and problem-solving abilities. 

This field encompasses a wide range of conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementia, and other neurodegenerative diseases that significantly affect cognitive capabilities.
