Testimonials

Jason Maljaars, MD
"My time as a stroke fellow at UIHC was an excellent experience. The high volume of stroke patients provided a wide array of clinical experience, and the dedicated weekly fellow-led education discussions helped hone my clinical skills as well. In particular, there were many helpful sessions discussing imaging and angiograms in great detail. As the year progressed, the fellows were given increasing autonomy over patient care decisions, which provided me with further key experience that helped my transition into independent practice. All of this occurred in the context of collegial and supportive stroke faculty. I would highly recommend this fellowship program."

"My stroke fellowship at the University of Iowa during 2019 was truly transformative. The program offered a unique blend of high-volume clinical and research experience, neuroendovascular exposure, and rigorous academic training. I was particularly impressed by the dedication of the faculty, who were not only experts in their field but also incredibly supportive mentors, that helped me to continue my career in the US. Currently I am completing my training as Neuroendovascular Surgery fellow at the University of Louisville. The exposure to complex stroke cases, coupled with the state-of-the-art facilities, allowed me to develop a strong foundation in acute stroke management. Beyond the exceptional training, the warmth and hospitality of the Neurology department including faculty and other trainees made the experience even more memorable. I left the fellowship feeling well-prepared and confident in my abilities as a stroke specialist. I am eternally grateful for the experience and the lasting connections I made."
